Kohl's Cash, Baby!

As you may have noticed, I have added a poll to my sidebar. One of the great things about shopping at Kohl's on Black Friday was that I got $10 Kohl's cash for every $50 spent!! The catch is that I have to use it by Saturday! So you have to vote soon!!! I set it up so you could vote on more than one thing, too! Print Page

I GOT THE LAST ONE!!!

Black Friday is something that my sister and I have come to LOVE doing together!! We've gone together every year since we moved back from Michigan (I think 5 yrs). Each year we get more and more efficient and strategic! This year we were pretty organized but we still have a couple of tricks up our sleeves for next year! Planning for this day started several weeks before BF. There are a couple of websites that post sneak peaks of the BF ads - we like to use this one. You can peruse the items and add them to a 'shopping list' and they will categorize them under the different stores. Unfortunately, this year we did not have easy access to printer so we had to write everything down. That is something we will do different next year! We also like to ad match at Wal-Mart! I LOVE their ad match policy!!!! We are able to skip entire stores sometimes just by ad matching at Wal-Mart!! Next year, though, we will make a specific list of items that will be ad-matched. We didn't do that this year and forgot a couple of things and had to go back later! So, we're getting better every year! Also, next year we will use 2-way radios. The cell phones take too long!! So, our adventure really got into motion on Thanksgiving afternoon when we pulled out all of the paper ads to go over them again and again. Here's a picture of Terra all engrossed in this addiction!! A lot of the ads that we had were for days prior to BF so we just threw those on the floor where our daughters got in on some of the action!!! The next day we were up by 3 A.M. We had to drive 30 minutes to Fort Smith where all of the stores were (that will change next year also - we're moving to F.S.!). And, we had to be to Kohl's at 4 A.M. They had a KitchenAid Stand Mixer on sale for $129. I had been waiting a long time to get one of these and this is one of the best deals that I had ever seen! Merry Christmas to me!! They had a few other things we wanted so my sister (8 months pregnant) and Aspen (my new partner in crime) went and got in line to check out while I ran and got the items we were looking for! As I was walking... quickly to the mixers, I heard someone behind me say "Man, she's serious!!". I think I saw that same person 100 people out in the checkout line while I was the 3rd or 4th person checking out!! We were literally in & out in less than 10 minutes!! Next we went to Wal-Mart where the sale started at 5 A.M. so we were about 45 minutes early. This was fine with us. We walked around the store to find where the stuff was that we wanted and then got in line for the more popular stuff. We did some damage there!! We had to drive to Fayetteville to get to a Target (Fort Smith is building a Target so next year there will be no more driving to Fayetteville!) and we hit the Toys-R-Us there along with several other stores and then we headed home! We were shopping, eating, and driving for a total of 16 hours!! Wow, what a rush!! Both Terra and Aspen were such troopers! It's only once a year so I think it's worth it! Obviously, Terra does too because I don't have to twist her arm one bit to go with me!! Oh yeah, I almost forgot! The reason for the title of this post!! "I got the last one!" This became a running joke for us. Once we got a couple of hours into our shopping, it became more of a challenge to find some of things we were looking for. Several times we would pick up an item and exclaim "I got the last one!!" Only to find that exact same item 30 minutes later in a totally different place!! We just had to laugh. It happened to my sister-in-law, too. She got to Target before us and my sister wanted a wagon that they had on sale so Terra asked her to get it for her. She called once she got in and told Terra that they were out and then called a few minutes later and said that she found 'the last one'! When we got there a couple of hours later we found about 8-10 stacked up by ladies underwear! This was something that happened to us several times that day so we had a good laugh out of it!!! Here are couple pictures of what my dad's truck looked like when we were done:

Note: Names of specific items bought were purposefully left out due to the fact that my husband, children, and other family & friends read this blog and would thus find out what they were getting for Christmas!! :)

More Blue October

Amber finally posted on her blog about our little jaunt to Tulsa. You should really check it out here! It's really good! Print Page

A Little Bit Weird

I've referred to Dawn's blog before, and that is where this video came from (also the "injured bad" video). It's pretty bad when I have to 'borrow' blog material, but I couldn't help it!! This was so funny!! My kids think it's hilarious! I can't wait until dinner and they give me a hard time about eating their veggies - I'm gonna start singing this!! Just a head's up, the last few seconds keep repeating! I think it's rigged to drive parents crazy!!!

This is the Apple that Andyn Ate

Asher loves apples. He takes several bites all around the center and then sets it down wherever he is. I've caught Andyn picking them up and gnawing on them. I usually catch her early on in gnawing process but this time... I didn't. This is was what I found her holding: And why not? Surely there is nothing poisonous about eating the "butt", core and seeds of an apple... right? I'll keep an eye on her diapers. Print Page

Are You Sure?

I found Asher like this yesterday. Me: "Asher, have you been picking your nose?" Asher: "Huh uh." Me: "Are you sure?" Asher: "Uh huh." Me: "What's that on your finger?" Asher (looking at finger): "I dunno know." Print Page

Blue October!

This was the best time I've had in a REALLY long time!!!!!!!!

My friend Amber from St. Louis called me last week and left a message to call her back but I totally forgot to call her until Thursday and she said she was wanting me to meet her in Tulsa for a Blue October concert but that it was probably too late to do it since the concert was the next night. Now, I had never in my life heard of this band or even the opening bands but I love Amber and she really likes the band so I told her that maybe we could still work it out. Well, she looked into it and sure enough they still had tickets so we started kind of plotting it out. Babysitters etc... She sent me a whole bunch of their songs and some from Shiny Toy Guns so I could memorize some of the lyrics (because who goes to a concert without screaming out the lyrics at the top of their lungs... not us!!) It just so happened that I fell in LOVE with their music!!!!! I jammed to it all the way to Tulsa!! We met for some dinner before the concert at Mexicali Cafe (really good food) and then it was off to Cain's Ballroom in downtown Tulsa for a GREAT concert!! We danced, sang, jumped, Amber even crowd surfed! OK, maybe not the crowd surfing but we were one person away from a mosh pit! It was totally crazy! It has been YEARS since I have been to a concert but I must say that when I was in High School (more than 15 years ago!) I went to a concert at Cain's with some girlfriends of mine and I don't even remember what band we went to see!! Listen to me now, I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS!! There was this cute couple standing next to us and every time a crowd surfer came by or the mosh pit got going this guy would move in front of us and protect us from getting kicked in the head by a surfer or rammed into by a mosher! He was SO SWEET! We called him our Knight in Shining Armor!! His girlfriend was totally cracking up at us. We were lovin' it!! I wish that I would have had the presence of mind to ask them their names! I did, however, have the presence of mind to tell them my blog address so they could come check out what I had to say about the concert. What can I say I'm addicted to blogging!! I'm really hoping that they check out the blog so we can reconnect! After the concert was over (about 11pm) we, of course, had to buy matching t-shirts! AND what late night activity would be complete without a visit to a local Denny's!? All that jumping, screaming, singing, and head bopping really makes a person hungry!! Now, initially we were going to just go our separate ways and perspective homes, Me - 2.5 hours to my hometown. Amber - 6 hours to St. Louis but after sitting down to several thousand calories which included a chocolate shake we realized that driving home might not be the smartest decision that we've ever made! Though we would have died very happy women we have husbands and children that really probably needed us at home. So, we decided instead to get a hotel room and head home in the morning. I'm so glad we did! It was really nice to spend some quality chatting time with Amber. I love you, Amber!! Thank you for inviting me to spend the night having a fantabulous time!!!!! The following are random pics. #1 Amber at the restaurant doing "Hi, my name is Chubby". If you don't know what that is just ask her to do it for you sometime!! #2 In the car, right before going in to the concert. #3 This one is in the collage but in that one you can't see the guy in the background! HE CRACKS ME UP!!! He looks like he's having a really good time!! I bet we looked like a couple of dorks, too!!

If you're interested in hearing a few of Blue October's songs I've put some below. Just click the play button:

This is some music from Shiny Toy Guns. They were one of the opening bands for Blue October. I REALLY like some of there stuff too!!

Aspen Plates

Just a cute little thing... we were using these paper plates the other night and noticed that they had Aspen's name on them! The packaging didn't have it on there any where but the plate did. Cute, huh?!

Dove Chocolate Messages

I'm officially in love with!!! I bought some Rich Dark Chocolate Hearts after Valentine's Day and put them in the freezer. A couple of weeks ago I got out a couple and tried them out. I LOVE THEM!! They are so rich and smooth. I don't like biting into frozen chocolate so I sat one on my tongue and let it melt in mouth... Delicious!!! The best part is that I allow myself to have no more than 3 per day and they are my snack (about 100 calories). It's always just enough! Here are a couple of messages that I got recently that I thought were nice:

There were probably lots of mushy romantic ones but it was the chocolate ones that really caught my attention!!

Halloween 2007

So, I'm finally getting around to posting about Halloween! We had a lot of fun this year! Just a little background: I am always getting cute costumes after Halloween and at garage sales so we have two big rubbermaid buckets full of costumes for the kids to pick from. Of course they change their minds a million times before the big day even gets here! I'm okay with that because I make sure the they understand that if we don't have the "parts" to a costume then they have to do without. If they give me some lead time I don't mind helping with finishing touches! Well, Aspen didn't decide what she wanted to be until the day of. She wanted to go as a pioneer. I just so happen to have a friend that has a bonnet and apron and I have the skirt so I ran to her house to pick them up about an hour before trick-or-treating. Once she had all of the pieces on she decided that she didn't really want to be a a pioneer after all! I told her that she was on her own! She put on jeans, t-shirt, boots, and a cowboy hat - Cowgirl!! Ainsley went as a vampire, Asher a giraffe, and Andyn a bumble bee. Geoff borrowed a wolf-man costume from my brother Tommy and really scared the beegeebees out of a ton of kids!!! After all was said and done, my neighbor (Rebbecca) and I went to a local haunted house and got the beegeebees scared out of us!! Lots of fun!
